June 6th, 1944: Into the Jaws of Death
To recover the beaches from the German army, American, English, and Canadian forces walked into the beaches on June 6, 1944. Knowing that many would not return, most went in blind. The Chicago Tribune was informed of many aspects of the 626th Engineer Light Equipment Company’s mission that day by Captain Tom Jensen.
