Modern Majesty: The Art Deco Marvel of Indore
The European experts were invited to help the Maharaja and Maharani design a very modern palace. Famous architects included such as Ruhlmann, Puiforcat, Le Corbusier, Eileen Gray, and Brancusi. Glass, aluminum, and synthetic leather were among the luxury materials they used. Every room had its own distinct color scheme. When the palace was completed in 1939, it contained 40 rooms, marble flooring, and stylish furnishings. They brought furniture from Berlin and spent a lot of money on it. From Louis Sognot beds to Baccarat furniture, everything within was of the highest quality. From the point of view of history, it’s interesting since these designers were interested in modern ideas that differed slightly from the beautiful and costly items they created for the palace.
