17. Sleeping Bear Point, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Michigan
Located along the northwestern coast of Lake Michigan Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a peaceful haven with beautiful 450-foot hills and freshwater swimming. To get to the beach visitors can use the Sleeping Bear Point Trail, which passes through underground dunes, or walk from the former Coast Guard Station which is now a museum. The wide views which are perfect for hiking and camping include the North and South Manitou Islands.
