Great Santa Cruz Island, which is located away in Zamboanga City the Philippines is home to a rare find: a beach with pink sand made up of many crushed red organ-pipe coral pieces. The island limits the number of visitors to maintain its uniqueness and thus bookings in advance are required through the local tourism office in Zamboanga. The island’s pink-hued sands which lie 4 kilometers south of the city center are caused by white sand combined with red instrument pipe coral that has been destroyed by waves.
