9. Cannon Beach, Oregon
Animals are welcome on Oregon’s 400 miles of public beaches, and Cannon Beach is a dog lover’s place. The famous Haystack Rock is seen offshore and the wide stretch of tightly packed sand makes for a lovely background. In October, the Surfsand Resort has a fun dog show every year. Historic Cannon Beach was first discovered by William Clark in 1805 as part of the Lewis and Clark Tour.
